Like a real French brasserie, this gorgeous Carlton terrace has a warm and vibrant feel, from the colourful French posters gracing the walls through to the interesting menu of provincial French cuisine. Even the wine list features some French drops, combined with Victorian vino. Run by the globetrotting Rees-Walsh family, Moretons Brasserie dabbles in authentic tastes such as sliced duck breast with Morello cherries, and braised rabbit with grainy mustard and creme sauce on mash. Good value and good taste seem to go hand in hand at this eatery.

An excellent evening
I went here for a work dinner after reading many online reviews that recommended Moretons Brasserie as well as a look at their website and menu. I had a few reservations as to whether it was suitable to impress people when I found out which part of Rathdowne St its on, but it did look nice inside and had a great atmosphere. The hostess was very attentive and was particularly appreciated by the female guests, paying attention to who would be interested in what and helping with food selections. I can see how some people might not like this, but it went down very well. Everyone was very happy with the quality of the food and service, and stuck for choice with the menu. My husband and I will definitely be going back again, although it is more of a special occasions place rather than somewhere we would go all the time.

Not as expected
After reading through excellent reviews from both on-line and Good Food Guide , I went to Moretons Brassiere with high expectation, but was deeply disappointed. The quality of the food was no where as good as described in the restaurant review and the services were far from friendly.Whilst the mains were acceptable, I'm sorry to say that the service and the desserts weren't. We all felt rushed and that the main waitress was far too abrupt.
