Mopho is the newest addition to Salvatore Malatesta's growing empire of urban Melbourne eateries, though this one is a slight departure from the coffee-focused, cafe-style of the St Ali and Outpost cafes. On offer here, just next door to Outpost, are noodles - and oodles and oodles of them (sorry, had to). Mostly South-East Asian influenced, the dishes are categorized by style: wok noodles, soup noodles, salad noodles and curries. There's plenty of variety and a focus on old classics given new twists, like the rending with beef brisket and the hokkien noodles with slow roasted barbecue pork and oyster mushrooms. Look out for a liquor license and extended opening hours soon, when this place will really hit its stride.
