The only real French restaurant
In 8 years in Australia, I have not found a better place for French food, I mean "real" French food and I can talk about it, I am French. Montrachet has to be the best French dinning experience in Brisbane. I went three times since the beginning of the year, and tried as well the desgutation menu. Please do not miss the Roquefort Brulee amuse bouche! A classic, but so difficult to find: I cannot resist their foie gras, finally served correctly! I enjoy as well the gravlax of salmon, the farced quail and the cassoulet. Otherwise, Montrachet is the only restaurant where French wines are not over priced, but well selected! Thank you to Thierry Galichet for bringing a bit of France on our tables. It is a small restaurant, therefore do not forget to make a booking, I do prefer seating inside.

Met expectations
I dined at Montrachet recently to celebrate my partner's birthday, and despite reading some pretty distasteful reviews prior to the evening, we had a lovely time. We were pleased to get a table at late notice on a Friday night, although I was disappointed that the seating is to tight that you are almost double-dating with the couple next to you. The food was a mixture; my entree of tuna nicoise was bland and unimpressive, while my partner's chicken sausage with foie gras was delightful. The mains; the roasted duck and the rack of lamb were both lovely, though my partner commented that he expected more from the lamb, considering the stellar reputation of the previous best restaurant. The wine list was quite impressive, and our eagle-eyed waitress was fantastic; helpful but unobtrusive. All in all, while I was expecting fire works, it was a lovely night.
