Monsoons is a trendy addition to Darwin's social hub of Mitchell Street - and it is fabulous. Occupying the city's original cinema building, which formerly housed O'Rourke's Drift, the venue has been restored and remodelled to create an atmosphere that fuses Middle Eastern, oriental and Australian elements. There is nothing quite like Monsoons on the social scene of Darwin and people are flocking in to taste the gourmet fare of salads, succulent steaks, grilled seafood and Territory-inspired tasting plates.
Taking up an enormous floor space and able to accommodate upwards of 500 people, Monsoons is one of Darwin's most spacious venues. The revamped interior includes sleek lounge and booth seating in rich warm colours, as well as a relaxed alfresco area. A large wooden, camel sits impressively by the entrance, bamboo blinds line the windows and coloured columns add vibrancy to the exotic space.
