Located in the infamously stylish St Kilda, Monroe's is defiantly modest, with a warm, homely interior, large glass panels and two roaring fireplaces. The menu, by contrast, features an immodest selection as diverse as duck spring rolls, Tasmanian oysters, antipasto and even a 350 gram grilled porterhouse steak. One thing's for sure though: you'll never be pressed for choice. If you're after a signature dish, try the Monroe's special pizza: tomato, ham, sliced mushrooms, fresh peppers, Greek olives, onions, garlic and mozzarella cheese. It's a no-fuss solution to a Sunday lunch dilemma.

Lazy Sunday !!
The ambiance was good for a lazy Sunday. The wait staff were attentive ad our order was taken. We ordered 4 plates from their Tapas menu, and it was requested if the mussels were to be crumbed, to which we answered in the affirmative. The first two items arrived not long after the drinks. Then we waited and waited, another set of drinks were ordered, the wine arrived, no water. Eventually the balance of the order arrived. The mussels in a soggy batter and the chicken wings were like they were poached and not displaying any of the chilli listed. The first two items were very tasty which made the others extremely disappointing. The time taken was 75 minutes, a shame when parking is a problem and our time was restricted to 60.

This Restaurant is Great
We are regular visitors to Melbourne and on each trip always try new restaurants. We read the previous reviews and made the best decision - to have dinner. The service was excellent, wonderfully attentive waitress, food was great and plenty of it. Quiet inside even though it is on one of the main roads, and great to sit and watch the passing parade. We will definitely be back next time in town. Thanks, Monroes.

Birthday Venue
I just held a birthday function at the Monroe's and I couldn't be much happier for the service we received and the cocktail food that was presented. The price we paid in the end was very reasonable and the atmosphere was exactly what we needed.
So, thank you very much to the staff and owner of the the Monroes which made our night the most memorable night and the feedback we had from our guest was outstanding. Well done and keep up the great work.
