Balmain's gentrification is in full swing, and has been for quite some time. Testament to this is the success of the Monkey Bar, crossing the boundary between upmarket bar and bistro. The menu has a seafood focus - perfect for peninsula dining - and the range of bar snacks is also quite impressive. Time can stop in the outside courtyard - it's so relaxing that by the end of the weekend newspapers you'll find it's time for dinner and a glass of wine from their extensive wine list.
