Milk'd

This funky little espresso bar is the brainchild of Lorena Tati. The focus is on simple, quality food (only Mondo's meats are used in her recipes) and good coffee (Essenza coffee, brought in freshly roasted daily) all served without pretension. The result is a cosy, intimate space that's welcoming to people from all walks of life. Young and old, straight and gay, mums and managing directors - they can all be found lounging on the brown banquettes inside, or relaxing in the moulded green plastic bucket chairs out front. Some come to soak up the chilled ambience with the daily paper, some to seek a little refuge away from the office - making use of the free wireless internet service - and others to indulge in one of Lorena's homemade cute-as-can-be cupcakes. At breakfast, the main attraction has to be the Milk'd Plate: continental toast, poached egg, feta and baby spinach with crispy salsiccia. While at lunchtime, sensational salads of seared chicken, Italian cacciatore and fennel or pear, walnut and rocket vie for attention with delectable Italian panini and slender baguettes.

Coffee Only
Having heard good things about Milkd I used the opportunity of housesitting nearby to have breakfast here. I intended to have a light breakky of muesli or similar so the review about waiting for eggs didn't concern me too much.
Ordered the toasted muesli with yoghurt, only to be told they didn't have any !! and the only similar dish was fruit salad which I wasn't going to pay $9 for. So order walnut loaf for $6 instead and a strong cappacino. The coffee was great, and strong as requested though way too much choc sprinkled on top. Not impressed with the toast-2 pieces came out had only a smattering of walnut. Was accompanied by 2 rockhard individual butters only. I didn't notice until I had finished and was on my way out that there was some preserves on the counter which I would have loved instead of butter but the waitress had failed to mention they were available.
Very disappointed with the meal, and the eggs at the next table looked extremely basic. Won't be coming here to eat again.

Potiential..
This place had the nicest coffee. I enjoy my coffee and this blend was sensational. If you're a coffee lover I would recommend this one. Service wasn't the best and the cake was so so but the coffee made it worthwhile.

Waiting for One Hour
The atmosphere was great. The food sounds better on paper than it actually is in real life. The service was bad. Had to wait one hour for plate of scrambled eggs. The waitress got annoyed when I asked if it was coming after waiting for 40 minutes. The eggs were not worth the wait.

Get Milkd
What a fab little spot to hit North Perth. If you're a coffee lover like me then you'll want to start calling this little pocket of Essenza heaven home. Funky little pad, with a crew that welcome you and will get to know you by name and menu preference. The smooth grooves set the scene and create a cool cafe vibe.

Local cafe adds to daily life
Really friendly staff, great music (loud enough to create atmosphere, not so loud as to prevent conversation). Coffee is the attraction, food is basic but fresh.
Cafe is smallish - so it's intimate and personal.
