Milagro


At first glance, Milagro might just be your run-of-the-mill mod-Oz eatery, doing some interesting things but still firmly among the crowd - that is, until you take a closer look.

Milagro shoulders itself with the title of mod-Oz cuisine but it's a loosely fitted collar. Chef-owner Jose Rivera takes as much culinary influence from Latin America as he does his own backyard. It's an interesting mix that sees ingredients like grilled kangaroo loin together with corn and jalapeno loaf as strange but functioning bedfellows.

Similarly, the menu meanders through tapas/entrees/mains unfettered by subheadings and labels. The result is an eclectic dining experience but one that is well worth the meagre price tag. Indeed, it's no coincidence Milagro was named the Sunshine Coast's best new restaurant at the Savour Restaurant and Catering Awards 2010.
