This award-winning Asian restaurant has played host to a range of celebrities and politicians, and Michael's wall of fame (featuring photographs of the better-known diners) may well be the only place Kevin Rudd and John Howard meet on friendly terms. All the Asian staples are on the menu, from Peking duck to Mongolian lamb, but for those feeling adventurous, the whole coral trout is a sight to behold; not to mention the ingenious intermixture of local produce with Asian cooking styles, as with the Singaporean chilli-style Moreton Bay bugs. Choose from an a la carte menu or go for one of the gigantic banquets that Michael's is renowned for.

Disappointing Evening
Having lived in the local area for many years and drive past this restaurant everyday and hear about the awards Michaels has won over the years me and a few friends decided to book an evening dinner to kick back relax and enjoy some great food and wine.
When we arrived we were warmly greeted by a receptionist and ushered to our table by waitress. The uniform was very bold very suited to the style of food and restaurant. Decor was neat and nice painting hung off the walls which did make me wonder if we were in a cafe or a chinese restaurant? We had beers for the first round of drinks and when it came to the second round, I wanted to settle for a bottle of red.
The staff's knowledge of wine was you could say next to none and when I asked if any of the wait staff knew much about wine we were told no. (most looked very young).
For entree we had the satay chicken and calamari balls. The satay chicken was very dry and tough and when I asked the waitress how they were cooked, she told me they were deep fried. This was the first time I had ever heard of a place deep frying satay sticks. Long are the days gone where they were good over the bbq coals. The calamari balls were bought in as well which was disappointing given the menu implies that they are made in house.
For main we had the Malaysian curry beef, pumpkin curry chicken, lemon chicken, butter chicken and Mongolian lamb. The curries were flavoursome and a decent size and the potatoes in them however seemed fried and wilted. The lemon chicken was heavily batter despite the menu saying "lightly batter until perfection" and the butter chicken seemed rather bland. Mongolian lamb was disappointing as well with very little meat and a sauce that was very tasteless.
Only two of my friends opted in for the deep fried icecream dessert. Overall they were presented well except for what seemed to be oil that was not drained off when transferred and the lack of care shown with the whipped cream which seemed to have just been dumped onto the plate.
Overall the food was very disappointing and with service and staff knowledge of food and wine not there as well, it made me wonder how they were known as award winning.
