This is a stylish restaurant serving modern Italian food at premium prices, all with spectacular views of the Sydney CBD skyline - the sunsets are particularly breathtaking. Mezzaluna is the younger, groovier brainchild of the Polese family, who still run the city's five-decade-old Italian institution, Beppi's. Book ahead for a table on the terrace, or enjoy the city views from the bar. Come for dishes like pan-fried ocean trout with Moreton Bay bug raviolini, osso buco with saffron risotto and orange gremolata, or seared squab with wilted radicchio, spiced cherries and chargrilled polenta. A top spot for functions or a romantic rendezvous.

Is customer always right?
Where is the customer service? Was it because of inexperienced waiters? I ordered an organic lamb cutlet but the waiter brought me organic chicken. I told him I didn't order the chicken and the waiter insisted that I did order "organic" chicken. I was pretty sure what I'd ordered and I could see the waiter struggling to use their new hi-tech ordering device when we placed orders. Had the chicken eventually as I didn't want my other guests to wait, but to my disappointment, the chicken was dry and tasteless. I personally would not go back there for food/service other than the atmosphere.

Mezzaluna's gone down the toilet
What has happened to Mezzaluna? Last time I went there in 2007 it was absolutely amazing. But not now. I took business guests for dinner and was appalled by the service, the food and how deserted the place was. And they charged a bomb to boot. Has it changed hands?

Having dined at Mezzaluna for lunch recently, I was keen to take some Melbourne visitors. Food and service were excellent - nothing could be faulted. The outlook from the restaurant is superb, but it is more spectacular during the day.
