Like a hot tamale or jalapeno chilli, Mexicali Cantina explodes with flavours that disprove any preconceptions people have about Mexican food being just about greasy and cheesy tacos and nachos. Following in the sizzling footsteps of its Richmond sister eatery, Mexicali Rose, Mexicali Cantina aims to be "Juan in a million" (according to their website) in Mexican food and its natural liquid counterpart, margaritas (although Mexican beer is certainly available too). Pick from dips, antojitos ("little whims"), taquitos (deep-fried corn tortillas), tacos, fajitas, burritos, enchiladas, salads, Tex-Mex ribs, and Latin American specialties like the Chile Colorado beef casserole. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are abundant, so don't be afraid to chow down the chilli.
