This stately French eating house is divided into two spaces: a cosy elevated lounge area, complete with vintage-style mismatched armchairs, antique lamps and polished wooden floors; and an elegant contemporary dining area, with plush rouge carpet and gorgeous custom-made wallpaper.
With French chef Gabriel Martin at the helm of this exciting venture, the culinary offerings here are magnificent, to put it mildly. Dishes are designed for sharing, with standouts such as the scallop carpaccio with golden beetroot and oyster in a carrot jelly, or from the bar menu the meatballs with prunes and radish salad. Another positive is the flexibility of the menu; you can order half-portion dishes, indulge in the three-course lunch special or request the "Feed Me" set menu and get four courses personally selected by the chef.

Bienvenue, Gabriel!
What a treat to have Gabriel Martin at the helm of a restaurant in our area once again. Beautiful use of a fantastic space, and Gabriel's wonderful food.
Choose the 'Feed Us' option and you'll not be disappointed. Next visit will be for the Sunday lunch - we're looking forward to it.

Fantastic!!
It's been a while since we have had the pleasure of Gabriel's food. And all I can say is that it's better than I remember. The Metropolis is an unusal space being an old ballroom furnished with classical and modern furniture. It was great, something completely different. The staff we great, up for a little chat and very attentive but not overbearing, the only thing I could fault is they forgot the butter for the bread. As for the food, we chose the 'Feed Us' option where we were given four dishes of the Chef's chosing.....and he chose well. Starting with smoked eel with turnip ravioli filled with pork, followed by and amazing chilled venision, which was sort of like a thickly cut carpacio. The last two dished were a pan fried Dory with tempura Calamri finishing with duck confit with eggplant and roasted breast. To finish we had a desert platter which was massive, including thing like deep frien ganache. All the while we were entertained by a great dou playing soulfull music.
