Melt Pizzeria

This pizzeria in upmarket Hyde Park is the sibling of the famous Melting Pot and, adhering to tradition, creates classic pizzas with the Italian knack of more flavour with less ingredients. Each topping is a careful illustration of quality produce. The bases have a rustic shape and delicious crunch, and each topping is tasted as a flavour of its own. The cured pork flavour of the jamon pizza dances on the tongue, concentrated by the cooking process. The margherita pizza will pass the test of even the most selective pizza lover with the richness of fresh tomatoes in the sauce contrasted with the flavour of each Italian herb. For an authentic dining experience, wash it down with a glass of Chianti.

Perfection Pizza, Tantalizing Tapas
In a precinct of high class restaurants and Cafe's in fashionable Hyde Park. The Melt Pizzeria, Tapas, Wine and Desserts Restaurant, have set the standard. For an on the go generation of professionals, who know their food, this is the place, constantly popular. The comprehensive bar selection and comfortable bar stools, makes drinks-only another option. Great vibe and ambience. The anchovies tapas were splendid and their most popular prawn pizza was divine, (recommended) From the moment we walked in, the service was very welcoming, friendly and professional. Bookings would be well advised, especially weekends.

The Best Garlic Bread. Ever.
We enjoyed a dinner here with friends. If you don't book, you don't get in i realised as it was packed -and it was only Wednesday. (lucky we booked!)

The cafe has a really nice relaxing feel about it and the staff were lovely. It is a noisy little place but it was full of happy people loving being there and we felt very relaxed with this vibe.

Then came the garlic bread. Seriously, i will go back for this alone. It is the BEST garlic bread EVER.

We all ordered a different pizza and we all shared a piece. Wow. I seriously loved everything. It is somewhere I can imagine has a cult following. It's not the cheapest pizza but i dont care - it is the best.

Do go and relax and enjoy...

Best pizzas
Melt has, without doubt, the best pizzas I have eaten outside of Italy. Combined with a buzzing atmosphere, friendly staff and one of the best wine lists in Adelaide, it's not surprising that this small but elegant pizzeria is always packed.

The pumpkin and sage pizza is a winner, as are their daily pizza specials. The tapas has never disappointed and the haloumi is a favourite.

Bookings are essntial for dinner but if you can't get a table, an excellent way to enjoy the Melt experience is to come in and order take away and have a glass of wine (and even a cheeky dish of tapas) while your pizzas are prepared (usually 20 minutes).

The staff at Melt are friendly and attentive, and even when it is very busy they retain their sense of humour which makes this pizzeria a pleasure to return to over and over again.

The only thing I can possibly criticise is that they close on Tuesday nights!

Great tapas
This is a favourite of mine. While the pizzas are great we are always drawn back for the ever-changing tapas menu. Very good wine list which won't cost a fortune. We were in a group this time so opted for the "shared table" which was a good choice in that a good range of dishes appeared, although the dessert pizza was a let down after the rest of the meal. There are two sittings at 6.30pm and 8.30pm. Be warned that if you attend the 6.30pm table you will be moved on at 8.30pm on the dot.

Melting the tastebuds
Melt has not yet established itself quite as sturdily on the Adelaide grapevine as some other upmarket pizza restaurants. Clearly, there's no need for it to do so. The pizzas speak for themselves, and volumes louder than any of its aforementioned counterparts. The bases are light and tasty - the perfect springboard for toppings like scallops and truffle with egg and watercress and potato and prosciutto with parmesan. Simple flavour ideas yet cooked so well that they leave you contemplating how you could possibly fit a larger sized piece in your mouth. A personal favourite is the duck calzone - the duck is moist, as it has been cooked inside the dough (take note please other duck-loving pizza joints).
The service is professional and mature - the wine list is equally so. The venue is rather small so make sure you book. Please refrain from telling the chef you want to marry him: he gets it all the time.
