Pleasant Experience
Went there last week for lunch and have to say I had a very pleasant experience. The waitress put a bottle of water on our table without us having to ask for it and took our orders for drinks straight away. The food came in reasonable time. I do think though that they need to have more staff on hand to deal with the large amounts of people in the restaurant though.

Pretty ordinary
I went to the restaurant with a group of 14 on a Sunday. Various meals were ordered and most people were disappointed. The risotto tasted like a mixture of boiled rice, a tasteless sauce and shredded chicken.

Great spot, good service, but ordinary food. I expected so much more.

Utterly Disappointing
I attended Cafe Medici for a New Years Eve dinner and I regret to say that my feedback is all very very negative.

A group of fourteen paid $75 per head for what we were told was a three course dinner commencing at 8.45pm which we had to prepay. My first issue is that we did not receive a three course meal.

The waiters for our table advised us that the entrees were too big for one person and that we were to share the entrees amoungst the table. On the waiters' advice I ordered a serve of bruschetta to share. The bruschetta that I received was two pieces of bruschetta. I've eaten a lot of bruschetta in my time and I would imagine a serve of two pieces would be suitable for one?
I ordered the grilled chicken for my main meal. The chicken was dry and inedible, the sauce (if you could call the watered down broth a sauce) was tastless and the vegtables were mediocre at best. I barely touched my main meal. If I'd made it at home for myself I would have been disappointed with it, let alone paying the price I did.

Then when the cheese platter came out for dessert (which we again had to share) I couldn't believe my eyes. We had 4 or 5 cheese platters to share for 14 guests. And what's more - there was one water cracker on each plate! We were supposed to share the 5 crackers amongst the 14 guests? Or fight over who got the cracker? I was gobsmacked.

Not only was the food the worst I have had in a long time, the service was terrible as well. One of the guests ordered an entree that never came - despite numerous requests to have it brought out. There was no apology from the wait staff when it never arrived.

We ordered drinks that never showed up. We ordered drinks and were delivered something else all together and we ordered a bottle of champagne that took 45 minutes to show up! And the waiters gave us attitude when we complained the service wasn't acceptable.

If you want good food, good service and value for money - go somewhere else. This place sucks.

Been redeemed
We visited on a Saturday night recently and although there was a 20 minute wait (given football and a packed restaurant), the staff were gracious and apologetic.

When we sat down, we were surprised by the warmth given off by the heaters above (we sat outside with a view of the Docklands harbour) and greeted by a friendly girl who offered drinks and immediately apologised for a potential wait on food and drinks (again busy).

Despite apology food/drinks weren't too tardy and our waitress was very attentive. cocktails were exxy but nice, parma was delicious and massive, chicken and rice salad was a bit over-dressed. Sticky-date pudding for dessert was divine.

I think the staff has been overhauled in the last few months because we dined there last year on a quiet night and the food/service was terrible, but upon visiting again we discovered a great atmosphere with quirky staff (who will have a laugh with you) and a good selection of food and wine.

Will definitely return for a casual meal.

Great location with less than average food
I really feel for the owners of this Docklands eatery. The location is great, the decor original and quirky, just a pity the rest underperforms.

We shared the bruschetta which was on warmed but not toasted bread that had appeared to been had been spread with pesto and then sprinkled with coarsely chopped tomatoes, red onion and maybe a little basil and olive oil. All the right ingredients in the right place, just the wrong amounts in the wrong order.

Next followed a very wet seafood risotto - to be fair the rice was cooked and the seafood was fresh enough and quite well presented.

My dining partner had the warm chicken salad, the chicken was cooked and the salad fresh but the dish had been drenched, no flooded, with a honey salad dressing.

We paid and left - not a passive act but instead we couldn't be bothered to begin to complain about this experience and upset what had been a good day up to that point.

Hit and miss
The food was quite average at best. Two people ordered a 'medium' steak - 1 was rare, the other well-done. Seafood risotto was watery. Three waited half an hour after all desserts had been served before receiving their sticky date puddings. These were dry and one was so rubbery we struggled to cut right through it with a butter knife. Also, the ice cream had half melted before the dishes even reached us.

Average food, grumbly waiters, poor management
Casual yet extremely noisy restaurant. Poor presentation of meals - esp. parma. No salad. The seafood pasta was terrible, frozen pieces of fish with no taste. There are so many other places at the Docklands to get decent service for a good price.

Terrible service at Medici
A group of 4 of us tried to dine at Medici. Three of us were served what we ordered with me missing out on my order. Three seperate waiting staff asked me if I was waiting for my meal and then simply vanished. In all a terrible dining experience. I would not recommend Medici at all.

Average Food, Poor Service
Medici has a lovely location, and should be a great place to eat, but was let down by completely disinterested service and overcharging. It shouldn't take an hour to get a drink, and a full restaurant should not charge for extra places booked when they were cancelled well in advance. The food wasn't bad, but I would not consider going back when there are so many alternatives nearby.

Family dining with a modern twist.
Fast Service, friendly staff. Casual, family-friendly atmosphere. Slapdash presentation of main meals, however good pricing and decent size proportions. A small but classy step up from La Porchetta-style dining.
