Not rushing back.....
This is my second visit - the first was over 12 months ago after just stumbling upon the place. The first time half the dishes were fantastic and half good. This time we had the cheese pastries for entree (exquisite) and the lamb tagine (great) and the chicken tagine (horrible and bland). So all in all, the quality is too unreliable, everything is over priced and not being able to book is just rude - the attitude is clearly herd 'em in and out like sheep!

Average
We have been to this restuarant twice and havent found anything exceptional about the food.
On our last visit ordered Lamb Pizza and the Lamb Kebab. The Lamb kebab consisted of only one kebab with a bed of spiced rice.. for a main (as well as the $21.50 price) we expected more meat. Both meals tasted ok but were nothing memorable.

Mega Blah
Service was shocking - we were completely forgotten about not once but twice! All of the wait staff were very skilled in the art of Not Making Eye Contact with people who are clearly trying to get attention. We considered rigging up an SOS flag with the napkin.
The general idea appears to be select sharing plates, which we did, but of the five dishes we ordered none were good and only two were worth eating, so we ended up getting hot chips on the way home!
Overall very disappointing - such a great concept, and a beautiful restaurant, but without the foundations of good food and service to back it up.

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT
Despite walking into a great atmosphere, we were placed in the middle of a walkway and kept being knocked by every person that walked pass. The entree of bread and dips was nice but three slices for two people is a bit crazy.
Then after another 30 minutes wait for our main meals, our calamari was covered in mint and killed all taste. The chicken in the tangine was very tough to cut with a butter knife
I can't see what the awards are for. Appearance maybe but if only the food met the standards of the design.

Wow
I eat at Mecca Bah regularly for lunch & dinner, with work colleagues, my partner, extended family & friends and for special occasions and I keep going back for more as it is a consistently good dining experience. Arguably one of the busiest restaurants in Brisbane (justifiably) with a relaxed atmosphere, excellent food, friendly & efficient service and exceptional value for money. Go early to avoid the line-up as they don't take bookings and are normally full for dinner any given night of the week. Not too much of a rush for lunch.

Service
I have been to Mecca Bah many times and I return for the food and the fact that it is somewhere you can get into without booking on a Sat night. Unfortunately every time the service really lets this place down. If they invested in better quality waitstaff this place would be packed every night.

Do not waste your time
Had dinner here with a group of friends. We arrived and told a table would be half an hour - we ended up getting one 1.5 hours later and then the food an hour after that. The food was just plain tasteless. The presentation of the food & atmosphere was OK, but certainly not waiting over 2.5 hours for - I won't ever be returning.

Didn't match the hype
Heard about Mecca Bah as it won numerous awards in the Map magazine including Best Restaurant. We turned up early to find us waiting 5 mins to be seated without the venue being quarter full. Once seated we were served drinks straight away and then left alone for 20mins, we had to signal a waiter to order meals. We ordered the Chicken Kebab and the Spiced tomato pizza. One kebab turned up on a bed of rice for $20. The pizza was also average. I am a firm believer in credit where credit is due...though our experience was poor.

Hmm
Came around 8pm on a Friday night, the restaurant was extremely busy, but we only had to wait 5 mins to be shown to a table. However once we were seated we waited around 50 mins, constantly trying to catch a waiter's eye, before I decided to get up and walk over to the register to let a waitress know of the situation. The lamb pizza was beautiful and my friend's tangine was delicious. We have been here before on a busy night and had a wonderful experience, so we were very dissapointed this time with the service.

Sure to become one of my favourites
My second visit to Mecca Bah was once again very impressive. The food is without a doubt the highlight of the place, and the great cocktails and atmosphere are just a bonus after that! Highly recommended are the carrot salad and pastry filled with Middle Eastern cheeses. Service was average - there is room for improvement but is sufficient.

Our table was seated quickly, but then ignored. It took a long time to get served for drinks and then served for ordering. We had two tagines and a spit roast pizza which were very nice, but a bit on the pricey side for the amount of food you receive. We had to ask twice for extra menus and water, and then waited a long time for service to clear and the bill. The waitress ended up apologising.

What a shame
This dinner was definitely a disappointment second time around. There was no service with a smile - only atitude and a frown. On several occasions our table had to approach staff for service after half an hour of waiting on each occasion. This would be understandable if the restaurant was at full capacity, but at half capacity? Food was average- possibly discouraged from the poor service. On a positive note the resaturant did have a lovely atmosphere- great music! However, this is not enough reason to visit again.

Exotic
Had my first ever tagine dish here. Simply gorgeous...I can now understand why North African cuisine is so hyped about these days.
The skin was still attached to the chicken drumsticks, swimming in this tomato-based sauce - not too appetizing. Very tasty in a subtle way though. Had a sample of the turkish pizza my dining partner ordered - heavenly.
Very good food, value is debatable. Reasonable prices for the mains though the portions are not huge like some local Turkish restaurants. Paying $9 for just three meatballs as an entree however is weird.

Loved It!
I had a most enjoyable meal at Mecca Bah on Tuesday. The food was fantastic, as always, and the service was quick and friendly, despite the restaurant being VERY busy. I'll definitely be back. The pizzas, in particular, are awesome!
