Almost there Mecca
I will start with a negative because there is only one and it's a big one. The service. I have now been to Mecca Bah a number of times and the service always seems to be below standard. I really can't understand why they always fail to deliver in this area. It's a massive disappointment. Waiting 25 minutes to get a dessert order placed is unacceptable. On the plus side, the food here is top notch. The Lamb Turkish pizza is one on the best meals i have ever eaten. The tender lamb and yogurt sauce is an absolute stand out. Anyone who comes to Mecca Bah needs to try this. Its the star of the menu. But don't pass the option of any of the entrees. All are well priced and delicious. But I can't leave out the homemade Halva ice-cream (or any of the others), there all fantastic. Once service improves, this will be a very good restaurant.

Awesome Mother's Day
This place was wonderful. It was a very cold winter night when we arrived at the restaurant. The atmosphere was warm and cosy with a traditional Moroccan feel. The waiters always had a smile on their faces and were very quick with the service. I had the Chicken with tomatoes, almond, sesame seeds & honey tagine. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the almond with the honey dressing was so YUM! Overall it was a great mother's day night with the service, atmosphere and the great food altogether.

Disappointed
Great views out over the water. Some of the material on the couches looked dirty and so was the floor.I had the Turkish Pizza with pumkin, pomegranate jam and fetta. The pizza itself was nice but was the pumpkin supposed to be roasted?(tasted like boiled pumpkin)I found what looked to be a small amount of pink liquid underneath the pumpkin, was that supposed to be the pomegranate jam?.Not much chilli in the Chakchouka.

Highly Recommended
I find with these websites that people are hasty to vent when they have had a bad experience, but rarely bother to comment when they have had a good one.

We recently visited Mecca Bah for an early dinner before a concert. I had been there previously for business lunches and always found their food and service to be exceptional. I am pleased to report that the beautiful waterside restaurant delivered once again.

The service was friendly and prompt, the view was lovely, the atmosphere relaxed and the food beautifully presented and delicious as usual. My husband was thoroughly impressed and is keen to visit again.

Shift change?
Back to our regular for another early (1700) bite to eat - so regular that we can recognise the staff.
On the surface it was all the same, however some differences became apparent during the meal. We had the olives (still fantastic) & a glass of wine while we made our selections - no issues so far. We then ordered our customary salad, zucchini pide plus the calamari & poatato cakes - still good.
However when we went to order another drink, it was very hard to attract a waiter - there were 3 of them servicing a half full dining room, and although they were busy, they made little attempt to scan the tables to see who needed service.
Finally, we caught an eye & placed an order & things got interesting. It became apparent that the waiter taking the order places it on the bar (with all the others?) & leaves it for the barman to complete - Problem - this was occuring at 1800ish as the barman & other staff were arriving to work, so it took a good 15 mins before our drinks finally arrived & by this stage the pide was cold - not a great outcome.
We will return as we enjoy the ambience & the food, however we will watch the clock to ensure drinks are ordered well away from 1800.

a middle eastern fave!
We frequently dine (early) at Meccabah after shopping trips in the city, as it is quick & easy, with superb views & flavoursome food.
The decor is looking quite worn with chips in plaster & flaking paint, however overall it still supports the Middle eastern dining experience.
We generally have a range of mezze (love the marinated olives & dips), a salad & a pide - would highly recommend the zucchini one - light & very tasty, & a good glass or two of interesting wine.
The total price is more than reasonable, given the location.

Never Again
Mecca Bah is beautifully situated at the New Quay. The place looks good (but nothing great apart from the location) and I have been there twice. The food is nice and not expensive although the selection is rather limited.
The first time we went early (6pm), we sat and ate. It was a professional dinner so the more than one hour delay between the starters and the mains was not too much of a bother although it was noticed. The waiter was quite arrogant at our polite queries about the where-abouts of the food.
The second time we went at 7.20 to find a long queue of people waiting to be seated. Despite the people leaving the restaurant those queuing were not seated. We gave up waiting after 40 minutes (which could have been less as there were free tables). When I asked (politely) the person responsible whether we could have an estimate about when we would be sitted and why people were not seated though there were tables he was outright rude and very arrogant saying that I did not have to wait and I was free to leave - I was polite!
Under different management this place could be special. Under this one, I strongly would advise people not to go. I won't anyway.
I consider the fact that the restaurant does not take bookings slightly disrespectuful towards customers.

This place is AWESOME! It's not very expensive, although the atmosphere and actual place is superb and the food is SO good. Try the Turkish pizza... YUM! Overall, a great night out.
