Undaunted by Asian fusions and other cuisine fads, this sophisticated restaurant has a dedication to fresh and traditional Cantonese cooking. The Tso family has operated the award-winning Me Wah restaurant in Launceston for 10 years, and this new addition to the family business is set to be just as popular. This is a fine-dining establishment: elegant, expensive and thoroughly enjoyable. There are all the usual entrees such as spring rolls and dim sum, but the mains offer something a little more exciting, with an extensive seafood selection including meals like the sauteed squid with garlic and chilli; or the whole crayfish de-shelled and pan-tossed with sun-dried prawns, whole black beans, dried shallots and fresh chilli.

World class
This was my 3rd time here over some months. No wonder it receives so many accolades and awards. It is truly excellent in every way and is a glowing example of the finest Chinese cuisines available anywhere. The choices of food and wine are excellent. I will return again and again and cannot speak highly enough of this superb treat for lucky us, the diner.

Astonishing
Even attempting to restrain one's cultural-cringe syndrome, it must be said that it is hard to believe that food of this quality (especially Chinese food!) can be found in Tasmania, and especially in a venue with such an unassuming facade. We had the Peony set menu, which is basically a seafood banquet, and course after course of perfect food came to our table, in the perfect size portions to ensure a broad-ranging experience that does not leave you with a distended stomach. The placement of the wok-seared wasabi beef at the end of the banquet was inspired - the flavours in this dish almost made me fall off my chair, and gave a real sense of the whole banquet leading to a climax. I would reccomend Me Wah as possibly the best restaurant I have ever been to - if you have not been yet, then why not??!!
