Serving as a shining beacon of hope to all who crave well-cooked, delicious tucker at reasonable pub-grub prices, this beautiful old hotel stands as one of the few pubs left in Melbourne that maintains its traditional pub ethos.
Having undergone some tasteful renovations that endeavoured to let the old girl shine rather than hide, the bistro area is now a breath of fresh air with its exposed timber beams and open feel. The long traditional style wooden bar also gives the place a sense of space and class, which is refreshing, compared to the chrome and black glass renovations most pubs seem to do these days.
The bistro fare is outstanding considering the prices, with must-haves such as the yellowfin tuna chargrilled to medium/rare, resting on a nicoise style salad of kipfler potatoes, beans, kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes and Spanish onion, and drizzled with garlic aioli.
