Melbourne diners: it's time to be amazed. The irrepressible Gordon Ramsay lends his Midas touch to Maze by Gordon Ramsay, a French-influenced fine diner that follows in the gilded footsteps of the internationally acclaimed (and always audacious) celebrity chef's Maze in London. Located in the lavish Crown Metropol complex, this incarnation of Maze draws upon fresh, seasonal Australian ingredients served tasting-plate style.
As the menu does change per the season, you're always guaranteed something innovative from head chef John Lawson's kitchen, whether it be marinated beetroot with goat's curd, a MacLeay Valley rabbit with pine mushrooms, or perhaps a slow-cooked pigeon breast. Planning on leaving without a dessert? You'd be miffed to miss out on sweet sensations such as the coconut and white chocolate panna cotta with mango and black olive caramel, or the signature Maze lamington with rosella jam. Hell's kitchen? No way.

Content Dining
a-maze-ing!! definitely one of my favorite places to dine. the food was excellent.although the meals are a bit small, but a 5 course meal + drinks would have u very well content.the service and staff was superb.atmosphere was very well but there could've been slightly better music, though u wouldn't notice it that at all when u start eating. the price of 5 meals incl. drinks for 4 ppl left us walking away with a bill of $475 which might seem alot, but it is well worth it. would come back for more. :) very well done !

Worth a visit
I have been to Maze in London...and unfortunately, Maze Melbourne is not as good but worth a visit.
If you plan to go once, I would try the degustation menu at $95 dollars per head. Standout dishes were the barramundi and ox cheek. Be aware when checking out the a la carte menu and the prices...although the dishes seem cheap, the menu has been designed so that you have to order multiple entree and main courses....hence I think the degustation menu is better value.
Service is adequate but not exemplary.
Dining atmosphere is let down by a lot of traffic as Maze Grill diners have to pass through Maze to get to Maze Grill. If tossing up between the 2 places to try, definitely go to Maze!

Certainly not five-star
I went to Maze on Good Friday with high hopes.
Having been to a few Ramsay Establishments overseas I had a pretty good idea what to expect, sadly I got nothing like what I was expecting and hoping for.
The service was awful. Our party was served by at least five different waiters, three of them asking if we were ready to order after we had done so 10 mins beforehand.
Twice we were told we had ordered food we hadn't and bar one of the senior staff coming over to smooth things out it was astonishingly bad service for a restaurant that wants to be called fine dining.
The wine list was good as was the somellier.
Now the food. Broken up into about 16 small plates the menu is not extensive but having to order at least 4 to fill up the meal will be quite expensive. All dishes were well cooked and were nice but we were hoping for some real wow factor which we didn't get. Both the lamb and tuna were highlights.
Overall an experience but I won't be going back anytime soon.
