Market 190

The restaurant is in a refurbished colonial home on Main Street. The lawn is littered with round wooden tables, protected by market umbrellas promoting the local wineries, with a cubby-house and toys for children near the fence line. The timber floorboards, chunky wooden tables and a presentation case of local condiments and produce add to the atmosphere of warmth and comfort. Try the chicken paella with game sausage, leek, sun-dried tomato and a hint of saffron for a modern take on a classic dish; while the tasting plate has local delicacies such as Kangaroo Island brie, smoked Aldinga turkey, Mount Compass venison and chargrilled organic vegetables. A modest mark-up will encourage even frugal diners to try some of the great McLaren wines by the glass. The sweets cabinet holds a slow-baked citrus tart, with a creamy texture and bound with light and flaky puff-pastry, along with a range of familiar slices, like choc-caramel or jam and coconut.

Busy Easter Sunday
On a busy Easter Sunday afternoon, we went down to Mclaren Vale once again on a recommendation from friends. Very busy cafe. A little daunting on arrival as we weren't really sure where we were to go to get our table. Finally found a waitress who seated us. All staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The only let down was the wait for service, but it was busy. Food came quickly, presentation was excellent. All meals looked awesome. Food was good and the atmosphere was good as well. Will definitely go back to this place.
