At first glance traditional Italian pizza and Thai food go together about as well as bacon and fudge. But once you get past the initial shock, Marco Polo actually fills a very necessary niche in Annandale's dining set.
There's a casual vibe at Marco Polo that this type of restaurant could not survive without: a breezy atmosphere that speaks of pure unadulterated relaxation. This same nonchalance carries over into the menu as well, where Mediterranean and South-East Asian flavours are distinctly (and blessedly) kept separate. The marriage of Italian and Thai isn't a culinary statement or fusion food, more an extra level of convenience, and in that respect Marco Polo is gem.
