Something between a pie and a pizza, mankoushe, a kind of spongy, chewy and soft and delicious Lebanese pie, is just plain good. The brothers who run this place, Jad and Hady Shoucair, and their mother Gisele, make everything from scratch - including the dough, which is made from white or organic spelt flour, and the turnips, pickled by Gisele at home around the corner.
The Mama's falafel with mint comes highly recommended, as does the rosewater rice pudding, and if you're a local, you're in luck: the boys have added four delivery push-bikes to their offerings, meaning if you live close enough to ride, you can have your piping hot, delicious mankoushe delivered to your door. For the rest of us, a trip to Lygon Street is well worth it.
