Ma Mensa's owner, Gail Palethorpe, is inspired by a desire to transport a little of the warmth and activity of an Italian kitchen to her well-known and equally well-loved Noosa trattoria. On any given evening, the excitement centres in the front courtyard. The atmosphere outside on the terracotta tiles is boisterous, while diners inside are offered a slightly more subdued environment.
The margherita pizza is a firm crowd favourite, while the beef served with a herb-infused sauce and topped with capers, ham and parmesan is also a popular choice. All the dishes are reasonably priced, as is the selection of vino from the Italian-loaded wine list.
