Makoto

Sushi and sashimi lovers are an unstoppable force - when they find something good they stick to it. That's why sushi bars like Makoto are so popular, with their offerings of fresh Japanese fare that's both tasty and cheap. On the sushi train here are all of the usual suspects: salmon avocado rolls, teriyaki chicken rolls, salmon sashimi, cuttlefish sashimi, tempura king prawn sushi and plenty more. Larger dishes are on hand, too, such as seafood udon, wagyu yakiniku beef, soft shell crab karaage and assorted chef's specials worth a look-in.

The BEST sushi ever!
I LOVE this place.. I am from Melbourne and I go to Sydney a few weekends a year just to go to this cafe! I eat every meal here when in Sydney (lunch/dinner) .. and get take away sashimi for breakfast the next day.
The staff always remember me even if it is 6 months between visits. You are greeted as you walk through the door.
Sushi/sashimi is EXCELLENT - the tuna is always my favourite.
If you don't want to wait, the best advice is to turn up about 10 minutes before opening time and put your name on the list.
Well worth a visit.. or ten;)

My Makoto.
I went to Makoto as I was staying at the Rydges and it was recommended by a friend. I was a little surprised that they lock the door when 'at capacity', it just seemed a little hostile to me. The wait wasn't very long and the staffer remembered that we were next even though some others pushed in front of us in the line.
Upon entering into the restaurant you are greeted by the whole of the staff.
I ordered the Chicken Udon Noodles and it was rather delightful, however it was a little salty. I didn't have too much sushi, however, what I had was devine, and my friend loved hers. It was fresh used quality ingredients and there was a lot of choice.
Good value for money, would go again and recommend.

Huge range of fresh sushi
A friend recommended Makoto when we visited Sydney and we found the food fresh with a huge variety - especially seafood dishes. Some other dishes can be made to order - the omelet hand roll was very good, veg tempura perhaps a bit overpriced. We ate here twice and both time had great meals. We spent $40 the first time then $60 the second for two people.

Good
Always busy, it's a nice sushi place to eat and I have to say the service seems better than other sushi places!! It's only the service which makes it stand out from the rest, the food is what you get at other sushi places!!

THE BEST SUSHI
So fresh, so tasty! This is the best sushi I've tasted in Australia. It's just as fresh as eating in Japan. Great service too. A bit expensive, but worth it.
