Mahjongg Cafe

CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS - RE-OPENING IN NOVEMBER.

Named after a famous Chinese tile game, this cafe's focus is European and Mediterranean cuisine, with a few pinches of Asia in dishes like the duck broth with shredded duck, mushrooms and wontons. Situated in the buzzing Portside Complex, Mahjongg Cafe dabbles in both a la carte and tapas-style dining, suited to whatever mood you're in. From spicy Thai chicken skewers to chilli plum baby octopus, the diversity of the menu is commendable, with a large range of gluten-free selections on hand as well. The desserts and pastries also keep many a sweet tooth satisfied.

Fantastic Frittata
I am very excited that there is finally a decent place to have breakfast at Portside. The staff were very friendly and helpful without being overbearing. The food was amazing and is very reasonably priced. I can recommend the spinach, fetta and mushroom frittata. One of my companions had the savoury french toast which was made with a croissant. We were told that the sweet French toast is made with a Danish. I might just try that on my next visit as I will definitely be going back.
