The Monk

Beer and gourmet dining? Sure, why not. The Monk may not be as mad anymore, courtesy of a slight name change, but it still manages to combine the two with a brew-friendly menu of tapas snacks and modern Australian mains and a small on-site boutique brewery. Match the Monk's own lightly spicy Kolsch ale to a plate of sticky pork belly with seared scallops or settle down to a stomach-lining meal of aged Harvey beef coupled with a beer-naise sauce and confit potatoes, matched with the Monk's own award-winning pale brew.

"Couples Retreat" pre-movie snacks
FOOD:
The lads had pizza, the girls had various tapas, one had the pork belly honey delight. Sorry I can't remember too much of the other menu's, was enjoying my pizza too much :D

The girls had Lush wine, whilst the lads had in-house biers, mine was the smoked bacon flavoured, Stone bier from memory.

SERVICE:
Attentive, courtesy and helpful in suggestions.

AMBIENCE:
We were around the back end where it was a little more private and we could make some noise :)

OVERALL:
1st visit was back on St.Val's Day was interesting as MM had a lovers delight menu option. 2nd visit was pre-drinks and some finger food with family/friends prior to a wedding reception at the Esplanade. So decided to come for a 3rd visit prior to seeing "Couples Retreat" with family/friends. All generally enjoyed the experience. A little pricey, tho the food was balanced - it won't be a regular visit :D
