Among the flash new restaurants, Lungomare is refreshingly simple. Wooden chairs and blackboard menus, chirpy customers and a view across the square to the jetty create an unpretentious and inviting space. The hearty modern Italian food - pasta, antipasto and pizza - includes some more unusual dishes. Lungomare means 'along the sea', so it seems fitting to dine alfresco and enjoy the view afforded by their enviable location.

My partner and I were out celebrating our anniversary recently, looking for a nice meal down the bay. We chose Lungomare, which was the worst choice we could have made! To begin with it took 15 minutes for drink service, only to have them bring out the wrong drinks! Our food took over an hour and it was awful- not fresh, frozen goods were clearly used in our mains! all this could of been tolerable if the attitude of the staff wasnt so terrible. They were rude, abrupt and clearly did not want to be there.
