Roosting quietly on the banks of the Georges River, Lugarno is a bit off the beaten track, but it amply rewards explorers with tranquil river views. The space is simply styled, with the view providing all the necessary colour and aesthetic interest. Watching the glassy water ruffling slightly in the breeze and the little boats putting around the dock is a full-time job, interrupted only by the difficult decision of what to order. As the name implies (and the watery location dictates), the menu is predominantly seafood-based, ranging from the compulsory fish and chips to more complex Asian or European-inspired dishes. While the lure of fishy treats such as the towering hot and cold seafood platter is keen, the menu also amply caters for meat-eaters with dishes like the eye fillet with smoked cheddar bread pudding.

One of the best restaurants I've been to in my 65 years
It was an important night for me and, on a friends recommendation I booked at table for two a day before. We arrived and took advantage of the valet parking as the restaurant is right on the water at the end of a narrow road. From the moment we entered, the serivice was excellent. friendly and fast, but not in the slightest, intrusive. The young lady with me hadn't had the chance to experience fine dining begore and she was absolutely blown away with the food, as was I. We never felt hurried to leave and it was with difficulty that we finally did. An excellent dining experience, thank you waitresses and staff.
