Lucky Coq is the little sister of Brunswick Street institution Bimbo Deluxe, but don't assume it's the quiet one. Nested comfortably between Prahan and Windsor, it's been the pecking ground of Chapel Street's cool set since the dingy Duke of Windsor was ripped apart, refitted and rehabbed into something altogether more chic.
Punters come for the bargain pizza and stay for the all-embracing beer list. In winter, there is fierce competition to claim a spot under one of the industrial-strength heaters in the courtyard, and every night you can shake your tail feather to free-range DJs and live bands. It is worth the south-side hustle just to sip infused vodka under the watchful gaze of stuffed, porcelain and painted roosters.
