Lucio's

Lucio's opened in Paddington almost 25 years ago, and their tagliolini alla granseola (homemade green noodles with blue swimmer crab) has been the star of the show ever since. The classic Italian food is consistently delicious. The feel is up-market trattoria, and a large collection of contemporary art dominates the walls.

I love Lucio's
Consistently delicious food, fabulous artworks and friendly Italian service. By far the best pasta I've eaten outside of Italy. I recommend to everyone for a fabulous night out or a relaxing long lunch!

Dine out all the time, but here more often than not. The food, service and wine are consistently of a high calibre. Recommend it to anyone!

Disappointing
Over 15 years we've enjoyed meals as a couple or with friends in a great environment at Lucio's and so recently choose it for our anniversary dinner. Unfortunately our meal was so disappointing that night we'll probably never return. After booking well in advance for a mid-week night, we were placed at the smallest table near the door as though we'd just dropped in unannounced. The staff throughout the evening were sloppy and inattentive - after ordering a bottle of good Italian wine, my partner was served a glass and I was ignored, then when we were able to get the attention of a staff member and corrected the order were served the wrong wine before we could check the bottle. Wine and water were splashed on us and our food during the course of the evening. Glasses weren't changed with different wine served. Veal medallions ordered to be served medium were served blue. A small side of Kipfler potatoes ($9!) was served cold, and were obviously old - they didn't have that firm creaminess of a new potato. Tomatoes in a salad with celery and goats cheese were soft not firm and didn't have the "redness" or flavour of good vine-ripened fruit. The meal was rushed - 2 courses completed in under an hour. Then when we asked for the bill - it took 25 minutes. We felt like we were in the dining room of Fawlty Towers - and my partner, having recently dined in some equivalent restaurants in London and Rome, didn't appreciate the comedy. For a meal costing $260 for 2 and a restaurant with 2 hats we definitely will look for service and value elsewhere.

What a find
New to Sydney we have just discovered Lucio's - a little bit of Italy down under.
Fabulous pasta was as good as we had in Italy - not cheap but certainly not over the top and really good food all round. Great service without being snooty. We expect to be regulars! Pity they are not open on Sundays though.

Saturday Lunch
This restaurant in leafy Paddington is perfect for a leisurely Saturday lunch after browsing the eclectic Paddington markets. Simple ravioli with buffalo mozzarella and cherry tomatoes are divine. Also tried the grillled calamari - really tasty. For mains the pork and crackling is a must. Staff are friendly and professional and you can save a trip to the art galleries, by just enjoying what's on the walls. Highly recommended!

Favourite Italian
Lucio's has been a favourite for a long time and still is very much so. Service is seamless and professional, and the food is better than ever. At our last visit we had overseas visitors so we all had the degustation menu - a great way to sample a number of their terrific dishes. Everyone loved it and it made me proud to be a Sydneysider and able to show off such a great place. Bravo Lucio's!
