As a pizza restaurant that also focuses on offering a quality dining experience, L'uccellino's is a rarity, carving out a tidy niche for itself by providing diners with a bit of atmosphere with their slice. Low lighting and friendly staff help create a warm and welcoming mood, while the simple provincial interiors will have you coveting the decor for your own kitchen.
The thin-crust, Italian-style pizzas deserve their own little soliloquy, with such options as the Genovese, topped with tomato, goat's cheese, pesto, roast peppers and prosciutto; or one they call pizza for a friend, which combines fior di latte, roast pumpkin, pine nuts, rocket and goat's cheese. Leave room though, because you don't want to miss out on the dessert pizzas - such as the calzoncino with banana and crema pasticcera - which are doing their fair share in cementing L'uccellino's reputation in the culinary lore of Melbourne's west.

An absolute favourite
We are lucky enough to be able to call L'uccellinno our 'local' and I tell you, it's enough to make us stay in the area! We visit pobably once every 2 or 3 weeks and it's always such a great experience. On my first visit here I was a bit apprehensive about having only pizza to choose from, but now I know why - the girls ehre have mastered it, and why would they want to stray from what they excel at? I have worked my way through most pizzas on the menu over the last 12 months and haven't been disappointed yet (however the Genovese remains a firm favourite). Recommend that the people you go with all get a different one and you all share a piece! The only downsides to this place is trying to get a table if you aren't organised to book (even the last time we went on a Wednesday night!) and the tables are pretty close together, so it's an intimate atmosphere! However really doesn't dampen the satisfaction you get from the food and the friendly service... will be staying in Yarraville for a while yet!

Best Italian pizzas
This is a fantastic Italian pizza restaurant. And when coming, ensure you leave room for a dessert pizza - might sound funny, but it is definitely worth the wait. Can be a little crowded (little room to move), but the food makes up for it. Ensure you book in advance.
