After 23 years of wondering where all the good Latin American food is in Melbourne, Lilian Funes de Murga decided to do something about it, and bless her for doing it so well. Recognising the distinct lack of quality Latino food, the owner of Los Latinos has stepped into the void with a menu brimming with traditional Salvadorian and Mexican cuisine.
Los Latinos is technically a pupuseria, which for the uninitiated is a cafe specialising in pupusa (a thick Salvadorian version of a flour tortilla stuffed with different fillings). The prices are low, the servings are generous and the decor is as vibrant and colourful as the food. If you have a serious hunger to tame try the guanacos carne asada, a whole plate of grilled minute steak with chirrimol, rice and refried beans.
