Without advertising itself as such, this Melbourne-based chain of late-night burger spots is entirely vegetarian, and almost everything on the menu can be made vegan. The crowds of drunken Saturday night revellers lining up for it probably don't know that though, and the vast majority will have no idea the burger they're about to inhale will have no trace of the unhealthy meat they've been craving since consuming those 20 or so pots earlier.
But anyway the burgers, delicious as they are, take a back seat to the fries that are LofT's bread and butter. Coming with a variety of sauces, from the basic (tomato sauce, mayo and the like) to the deluxe (mayo, peanut sauce and chopped onion or Napoli tomato sauce with melted mozzarella cheese), it's not just the hand-cut, double fried, fresh (not frozen) potatoes that make them memorable. The French-Canadian comes highly recommended and is a vegan-friendly version of the Canadian classic poutine, with gravy and melted cheese instead of the traditional cheese curds.
