Longview Vineyard is what happens when two New York City slickers return to the Adelaide Hills to take over a vineyard. Only open on a Sunday for lunch (the vast majority of business here caters to functions), it's the view at this winery which, together with the wide selection of wines available, makes for a truly outstanding dining experience.
Dining options are transmuted from the usual three-course options to a range of tasting plates which all centre around one particular ingredient; for example the Moroccan lamb tasting plate accompanied by bocconcini and tomato. It's a decidedly relaxed colonial-cum-pastoral affair, where diners are invited to relax on the verandah, lawns or barn at the much sought-after lunch spot. Desserts are decidedly decadent but not an arduous task, as they are served in small portions; expect sweet offerings such as Turkish delight, banana caramel tarts and chocolate raspberry cheesecake brownies.
