Partners Monique Maul and Anthony Milroy are attracting diners from all over New South Wales to their restaurant in the foothills of the Blue Mountains. Specialising in regional produce, their menu takes inspiration from locally grown vegies and herbs, local nuts, goat's cheese and fruits. The seasonal menu could include spiced butter poached spatchcock with marrons, okra, celery hearts, cashew nuts and fenugreek sprouts; or pan-roasted yamba jewfish fillet with Mooriah cumin-braised tomatoes, chickpeas cavolo nero, olives and chermoula eggplant.

Wow, food heaven
Having heard and read about Lochiel House several times, we finally got organised to make the trek from Eastern Sydney, past Richmond into lower Blue Mountains for a birthday lunch. We were not sorry.
On a cold winter's day, a prized seat beside the fire was just what was called for. Even though we were late for our booking, our table was held for us. So glad it was! Three courses, tea, coffee (and a bottle of red) later, we were well sated. All of the dishes that we ordered were fabulous, the braised beef shin gado gado was sublime. Let's pray it is always on the menu as this was not my choice but my husband's and I definitely want it next visit - and there will be a next!

Don't Worry Be Happy!
Keep up the great work owners of Lochiel House. This cute country restaurant is my regular and reliable stop on the road for culinary delights of all kinds. Whether it's a devonshire tea or three-course luncheon; the food, service and Australian wine list of this establishment are well deserving of their one chef hat award from the Sydney Morning Herald, which has been achieved for three years running. The chef/owners and wait-staff are a strong team who are honest, dedicated and committed to providing their guests with finely superb hospitality.
They also have a menu that changes seasonally which generates a lot of interest from local and city clientele and provide set menus for large bookings of special functions. I just recently celebrated my birthday dinner here with my family. We were located in a private dining room, beautifully set with all the trimmings and to complete the evening the chefs made a stunning old fashioned chocolate cake adorned with fresh dahlia flowers, candles and singing waitresses! I'll never forget how special they made me feel.
So no matter what your needs are, when you're a guest of Lochiel House sit back, relax and enjoy the journey of a dynamic and dedicated team. We constantly praise them all and their continual hard work and look forward to more Lochiel Love in 2007 and beyond!
