Little Tokyo- big bill
Having lived in Japan for many years I am a bit of a cynic re the local Japanese food scene. The service was cold, curt and seemed blatantly aimed at getting the customers to order more teppan yaki. At $38 dollars for a piece of undistinguished steak and no theatrics we won't be back.

Yawn!
From the moment your waitress collects your shoes prior to being seated in a traditional setting, you know your in for an experience that promises to be unique. As excited as we were to get stuck into some simply displayed yet tasty sashimi, the wine list was barren and expensive. On a later visit to try the teppanyaki menu, I found the entertainment factor was somewhat sub par, and paralleled the excitement of standing around the BBQ at a mates place, without the urge to critique your mates BBQ technique. Althought not a bad experience on either occasion, I wanted it it be better. We have found better Japanese experiences are only minutes away. The wine list needs work with realistic margins.

A bit rich
Not impressed with being charged extra for a 'show' with the teppanyaki cooking. We just weren't expecting to pay a premium for it. While the food was delicious, the 'show' wasn't worth anything extra.

Big Taste, Small Portions
We tried Little Tokyo at the recommendation of several co-workers and the food did not disappoint. We had sashimi as a starter - tuna, salmon and scallops - and the quality was superb. We ordered sukiyaki for two as our main and it was delightfully presented and delicious. However, the portion provided for two people was disappointingly small. (The amount of meat and vegetables provided were what you would expect for a single portion, leaving us wondering if we should be waiting for more to arrive.) With 2 beers and a shared entree, we spent $95 and left feeling still hungry. While the quality and service were excellent, the value was just not there.
