Charcoal chicken is the mainstay of this eatery which offers Portuguese and Spanish influenced delights. The chicken is freshly cooked and complemented with the Portuguese rite of passage - piri piri sauce - comprising of birds eye chillies which were first discovered in the former Portuguese colonies of Mozambique and Angola. The sauce is hot and piquant - those not wanting such a spicy introduction to Portuguese cuisine can content themselves with a lemon and herb dressing. The chicken comes with your choice of chips or roast potatoes. The desserts, such as flan - a Spanish/ Portuguese take on creme caramel - are a popular end to a rich, smoky, and, if you want, spicy, meal.

Great Portuguese Food in Dulwich Hill
My friends and I are regular diners at Little Portugal, and consider it to be one of the best Portuguese restaurants in Sydney. Little Portugal is not like some of the Portuguese restaurants in nearby Petersham.
It is small and cosy, but it combines excellent fresh food with the friendly service that you expect from a family-run restaurant. BYO wine, which is always a plus, but Little Portugal also has a range of local and imported wines and beers, including the excellent Super Bock beers from Portugal. It's a great place to dine for lovers of Portuguese cuisine.

A little Portuguese gem
I am a great fan of Portuguese cuisine, and started visiting Little Portugal about six months ago. I am now a regular diner, and consider that it serves some of the best Portuguese food in Sydney. The dining area isn't big, so if you are planning on dining here, ideally keep your dining party to six people or less.
Little Portugal is licensed, with a range of local and imported beers and wines. When I dine here, I always try one of the Portuguese beers they have in stock. The Super Bock beer is an excellent beer. But you can also bring your own wine as well, that's not a problem.
Little Portugal is a cosy little cafe/restaurant, and doesn't pretend to be anything else. What it lacks in size, it certainly makes up for with excellent food and prompt, friendly service. Well worth a visit for those diners who like Portuguese cuisine.
