Spice is more than nice in the South Yarra home of North Indian cuisine, Little India, where diners are enveloped in an environment of warm orange hues, from the brightly coloured walls to the succulent butter chicken (known as Murg Mumtaz). Little India's ingredients carry on a chain of rich cultural history, with special Punjab-style basmati rice, naan breads and of course, curries.
Spice addicts have much to choose from here, with highlights such as the hot chicken, lamb, beef and prawn Jhalfrezee stir-fries, featuring red capsicum, coconut milk, tomatoes, spring onions and spices. You can cool down with a creamy korma if spice isn't your dish, or select one of the many enticing vegetarian dishes if you're an out and proud herbivore.
Indeed, Little India's meticulous preparation of food using a Tandoor (a clay and charcoal oven) keeps them at the top of their game.
