Walking toward this fabulous, well-lit Federation house, there's temptation to hold your breath in hope the dining experience does justice to the facade. Met with black tie service on entering, you breathe out... and then in again as you take in aromas dished out via fresh seafood melded with Italian spices. Although an ample spread of space combines indoor dining with a lush, plant-filled courtyard, the centrepiece is definitely the grand table in the main room. The music is a subtle backdrop to the overall ambience, and a bar upfront makes early arrivals comfortable until the other guests show. The award-winning wine list mixes local plonk alongside classic Italian grape varieties; similarly the beer list blends Australian favourites with classic European frosties.
