Lily Pond is the kind of restaurant Essendon has been crying out for. It's modern and takes its food seriously, but blessedly doesn't take itself too seriously. There are no airs or pretensions here, just welcoming service and good food served in stylish surrounds.
Look out for the modern interpretation of the duck a l'orange, a seared duck breast with a zesty orange glaze served on a bed of sweet potato mash and seasonal vegetables. It's a standout dish and a clear reminder of why the recipe became a classic in the first place.
