Needs a bit more substance to the form
I had high hopes of Libertine, after having read some positive reviews of the place. Upon arrival, the signs were good, as I liked the decor of the bar area. The menu was less French colonial than I had thought it would be, and in many ways, quite ordinary. Ditto re: the food quality. There was a bit of a big stuff-up with our desserts, the order having gone AWOL. To compensate, the rather professional and friendly owner gave them to us for free. I had the chocolate fondant (Vietnamese?), which was lovely. Better than the mains and entree in fact. A service gripe - I cannot stand wait staff who are overfriendly. This includes touching my shoulder when they speak to me. The informality thing does have its boundaries, you know. Would I go back? Probably not. It was pleasant, but nothing to rave about.
