Best celebration ever
I had an enjoyable night with my friends holding my birthday celebration at Libertine.

The food was fabulous and the staff were attentive and friendly.

I recommend the bang bang chicken!!

Great pre-club venue
Libertine is a great addition to the Cross dining scene. The highpoint is the bar area which is designed for slouching and people watching over one of the excellent cocktails served by the attentive bar staff.

The dining area is much lighter and bistro like in its feel which is a change in mood from the intimacy of the bar area. The food is designed to share and the salad starter is a stand out. Our table also liked the squid and the claypot trout. the wine list is varied and good value. Wine and cocktails for three people cost $250.

If you are looking for a pre-club venue in the Cross, this is the place.

A Great Surprise
Some friends from Melbourne arranged dinner at Libertine with 20 of their closest friends. We were pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere, food and service. A degustation dinner with Vietnamese/French mix put us back $40. Very affordable for the quality of food and service. There is a great courtyard with enclosure for large groups. We will definitely be back.

Something new, Something Gold
Great food and a price which defies the groovy Vietnamese meets the Cross decor. Everything we tried was special. Love the mix of Vietnamese (duck pancakes were my favourite) and being able to finish off the meal with a great French-style dessert. I can see this place becoming THE place to start off the night before heading to the sexy clubs outside.

Needs a bit more substance to the form
I had high hopes of Libertine, after having read some positive reviews of the place. Upon arrival, the signs were good, as I liked the decor of the bar area. The menu was less French colonial than I had thought it would be, and in many ways, quite ordinary. Ditto re: the food quality. There was a bit of a big stuff-up with our desserts, the order having gone AWOL. To compensate, the rather professional and friendly owner gave them to us for free. I had the chocolate fondant (Vietnamese?), which was lovely. Better than the mains and entree in fact. A service gripe - I cannot stand wait staff who are overfriendly. This includes touching my shoulder when they speak to me. The informality thing does have its boundaries, you know. Would I go back? Probably not. It was pleasant, but nothing to rave about.

Right from the start we knew we were in for something completely different. The restaurant's decor is bright but seductive. The food is new - refreshing. The wine list is spot on. The right mood, the right people!

Libertine...finally
Finally a restaurant in Sydney that makes you forget you are in Sydney. My breath was taken away from the moment I walked through the exquisitely finished hallways into a room of pure gold. Service was natural, unpretentious, fun and knowledgeable...Food was UNFORGETTABLE and CHEAP!! I couldn't believe it - when my partner and I walked in and saw the decor, we were expecting (and would have been happy)to pay $30 or more for mains...the most expensive mains were around $22. Andrew and Jamie as hosts made our night an enjoyable experience and I can't wait to try the outside deck area next time.
