Lezzet

A cut above your average Turkish restaurant, this Elwood eatery proudly builds upon established Turkish culinary traditions while injecting its own innovative inflections into the mix. But there's no doubt about it - Lezzet is an absolutely Anatolian affair, from its mouth-watering mezzes to its copious kebabs. Moving down a less conventional route, Lezzet also puts a Turkish spin on traditionally Italian woodfired pizzas, pastas, and risottos, such as the kofta pizza with salsa, herbed Turkish lamb kofta, Spanish onion, yoghurt and sumac. With brightly painted interiors and comfy cushioned seats, Lezzet is a warm spot for a family outing or group event.

Food and Service made up for the cool breeze
We arrived around 6.00pm and were the only diners, the place is cosy with tables close together and it was very chilly. As the place filled it warmed up with body heat. The issue is the take away section is directly through the front door and cash register. It is a busy take away and the door was continually opening.

Now for the good news we were tucked around the corner and were waited on by a polite and efficient waiter. The EFES Pilsener was great and so was the food. A hot n spicy pizza with great tastes folowed by a slow cooked lamb with a fig and date jus absolutely a stand out. A sweet to end and we were off and satisfied.

The restaurant is BYO wine and there is a great boutique licensed grog shop a few doors up.

Two thumbs down!
Upon reading the review it sounded like a nice place to be on a cold Melbourne winters night... I was wrong. Our table wasn't ready on time, the room was very noisy, we were placed directly next to the front door which kept opening and slamming itself shut with the wind, I was knocked by each delivery driver, take away purchaser, patron and waiter as they walked by, the bathroom light is on a timer which switched itself off (very tricky to negotiate a rest room in total darkness), the cutlery was marked and tarnished, some wait staff were inconsiderate and made little effort to display any sort of professionalism, it took 45 minutes just for our drinks order to be taken, my meal was cold, under cooked and not as described, it was over priced and over all a huge disappointment

Not my cup of tea
Based on the effort needed to obtain a reservation for a weekend meal, I thought I was in for something spectacular. Boy did I get that wrong.

The only thing spectacular about Lezzet is that they manage to stay busy despite the fact that they charge an arm and a leg for portion sizes the size of a finger.

Having said that, the renovation is great.

Not a class establishment
Very disappointed with the menu and the quality of meals served - quality didn't match the price. One doesn't mind getting an average meal in a cheap restaurant that you pay $9 of $10 for. One doesn't expect to pay $25 for the same thing. The place has a nice atmosphere which is what drew us in - cosy and friendly looking. However the staff varied between arrogant and unpleasant - a little surprising if they look for return business - maybe they get enough walk in traffic not to care.

All in all I've had worse meals but usually I've paid a lot less for them. Couldn't really recommend this restaurant to anyone I like.
