Lenzerheide

A stayer on the Adelaide restaurant scene since 1989, Lenzerheide deserves its popularity. Housed in a 1890s mansion, the historic premises can't help but put you in the mood for old-world cuisine. The decor of light wood, leather and soft colours make this a fine place to relax and wile away an afternoon in old-fashioned comfort. Lenzerheide even offers sitting of that most charming of British traditions, high tea: you receive a glass of bubbles on arrival followed by a decadent spread of sandwiches, pastries, sweets and even scones with jam and cream.

The a la carte menu is reassuringly familiar European with a Swiss influence. Duck a l'orange, chateaubriand and traditional hearty soups all feature, with no dodgy culinary inventions. Combined with professional service and an elegant sophistication, Lenzerheide is a failsafe option for a romantic and slightly nostalgic dinner.

A reliable choice
The Lenzerheide is one of those restaurants you go to for a special night out. It s well established, the service is excellent, and the furniture and d?cor very comfortable, if a bit dated. The menu provides lots of really good choices and the food is consistent and solid. It s not innovative, it s not mind blowingly nuanced in flavour, it s just good solid European fare that s well cooked. Nothing wrong with that.
