Leapfrogs Cafe Restaurant

Sequestered amid the beautiful company of roses, tulips and waterlilies in the Wanneroo Botanic Gardens, Leapfrogs Cafe Restaurant offers a resting (lily) pad for its ultra-laidback clientele of park dwellers and visiting diners. Lush greenery surrounds the casual alfresco area while the aromas of fresh coffee flow through the bustling indoor dining spot. Leapfrogs proudly make all of their food from scratch, using local produce when concocting their seasonally changing menu of woodfired pizzas, egg breakfasts, tarts, salads, sandwiches, burgers, falafels and even pan-fried potato gnocchi. Only a short drive from Perth, this charming garden cafe is a great spot for families, groups and couples, with an extensive list of wines, beers and spirits, and a lot of space for kids to play outside.

Terrible pie dish
We went there around 6 months ago , i ordered a homemade pie dish that came with a side of mashed potato and peas.

The first problem was the serving was too large , it hardly fit on the plate. The pie was insipid , the pastry being soggy and not resembling a pie so much as a blob. Both the pie and the potato had a strange aftertaste.

I realise a homemade pie is more difficult to make than a burger or a pizza or the other things offered on the menu , after viewing leapfrogs website tonight i see the pie is off the menu so maybe they share my opinion on that.

Zero stars for the pie dish , but a bonus star awarded for cutting fresh potatoes to make chips and not using frozen ones (i tried a family members chips).
