With its mock-Tudor exterior, own-brewed European-style beers, paintings of London, cosy fireplace and chunky glass beer mugs, the Last Drop Brewery pays homage to the old English pub. The traditional beef and ale pie, fish and chips and chargrilled steaks remain clear favourites among patrons, though chef Aaron Hand has spiced things up with a little fusion food. Creations include the Provencal nicoise salad, Thai chilli beef, Jamaican prawns and hearty risottos and pastas - all of which come with beer and wine recommendations. In fact, non-beer drinkers will be pleasantly surprised by the extensive wine list. There's also 10 classic and original cocktails to choose from, as well as a full range of spirits. In winter, the wood fire gives the large restaurant area a cosy feel, and in the warmer months, the shady enclosed courtyard offers a cool and inviting retreat. Drop in on a Friday or Sunday evening and you'll also be treated to some good old-fashioned live rock and folk music.

Average is as average does
A recent visit here saw me having one of the specials - a nice enough tasting chicken & chorizo linguine which I did still enjoy enough to take home despite the fact I pulled four HUGE chunks of grizzle out of it. Upon pointing this out to the waiter, I was told he was 'surprised' because he had eaten it before and not had anything like that - doesn't really help me after having nearly choked on one of those chunks of grizzle though, does it? There was no apology or anything done to rectify the situation. Pretty poor as they really were huge chunks, one of them nearly golf ball sized! (Also had a waitress who, while not overly rude, was certainly overly uninterested!!) My mum had the steak sandwich which again, was just okay. She ate the whole thing but the steak was quite tough and overcooked. Not the worst place I've ever eaten but won't be going back in a hurry, especially after previous mediocre experiences.

Not worth the time and money
Disaster is all I can say. Having decided to celebrate my 40th by going out for a nice meal with family and friends, I now wish I never booked this restaurant. Shambles right from the get go. I booked for 7.30pm but was told we were expected at 7pm. The waitresses were so rude with their inability to write correct orders, incredulous looks and snide comments. The one decent waitress we had was only at our table to clear the plates which were barely touched. Two meals were delivered with sand encrusted lettuce, people dont order the chicken caesar salad!! My compliments DO NOT go out to the chef. My sister was rudely shocked to find she had to pay a surcharge of $17 for bringing me a birthday cake. Having come from a large family who love to wine and dine, you can be rest assured that I will NOT be recommending this restaurant to any family member or friend. Really wouldn't want them to experience the torture.

Rude staff
After choosing a meal, I went up to the bar to order a bottle of wine. I was told that my choice was not available. So I chose another one. It wasn't available either. So I chose a third which also was not available. While I made my fourth decision a manager came up and my friend asked if another bottle was available and was told 'it's on the list isn't it?' When I questioned him about the other three bottles that weren't available he told me that there was a fully stocked bottle shop next door. When I suggested that maybe his staff should have suggested this and know what he was talking about or not work the bar, we were told that if we were going to be rude to his staff we wouldn't get served. Also be warned that if you want to make any changes to the menu, it will cost extra. So we won't be coming back again.

Night from Hell
A group of 10 booked for 7.30pm, orders taken at 8.30pm, 9.30pm nothing had arrived, queried staff, 9.45 6 mains turn up (obviously quickly thrown together), 2 were incorrect 10pm told other 4 mains had run out and with nothing being offered as an alternative, the manager, in his own bad luck attitude, was sorry this had happened, blaming it on a busy night. There are 10 people that will never see the inside of this place again.
