People say that the eyes are the window to the soul; in the same vein, a pub's restaurant can speak volumes about a venue and its patrons. Take the Lansdowne's famous $7 meals for example; these unfussy dishes, available for the single-digit recession-buster price with the purchase of a drink, are a source of comfort and sustenance for the cash-strapped backpackers and student types who flock there each evening for the cheap drinks and free live music. These fiercely loyal patrons have perfected the art of eating around the gristle on their steak and even relish the challenge. Apart from steak, you can also opt for schnitzels, nachos and lots more.
On a weekend, the ground floor bar can get quite buzzy; every inch of the structure is constantly pulsating with music - whether it be from a local metal band or the bar staffs' private collection - and boisterous chatter fills the room, spilling out onto the sidewalk. The bistro hall upstairs is surprisingly spacious and there's also an excellent rooftop terrace.
