Owners Kitti and Kadjana have filled their restaurant with intricate decorations, carvings and statues from their ancestral home in northern Thailand - creating a space that's warm, inviting and very family friendly. If you're lucky, you may even be shown to your table by Kitti and Kadjana's infant son, clothed, like all the waiting staff, in traditional northern Thai dress.
Dine on a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday night, and you'll be entertained by Kat and her kim (Thai string instrument) - she also performs traditional Thai dance in the summer months. Every night of the week, Kanjana, of Amarin, Thai Corner and Sala Thai fame, treats you to authentically flavoursome, but not too spicy, red, green and masaman curries, stir-fries, salads, noodles, rice dishes and desserts including Lanna ice cream served with Thai jackfruit.

Where do I start
It was my 50th birthday and I chose Lanna Thai as I have had many a beautiful meal at this restaurant. However, it would seem my beautiful restaurant has changed owners and it is all downhill.
Firstly, we were seated in the window seat - no room to move at all and when items were brought to the table we all had to pitch in and help place the items. Then when we were finished the dishes, nobody came to clear the table because they couldn't fit around the table to clear away.
The food, well there was another disappointment. Meat curries - 3 pieces of meat in our Massaman Curry. Really nice sauces, no meat though. The chicken dish had at least 6 pieces of tiny chicken slices. The steamed fish, 1 small fillet of fish. Yum Apple 3 prawns was the final count and the chilli was so hot it was inedible.
Well boys, your lack of service, lack lustre attitude and appalling attention to detail in both serving your customers and providing value for money was an extreme disappointment for what was hoped to be an enjoyable celebration. Lastly, you horrid music was extremely annoying and the airconditioning could do with an overhaul too. A family of 7 will not be returning to your restaurant.

Thai me up!
We regularly frequent Lanna Thai for both the dinner and take-away service in Subi.
We have tried a few different dishes and found the green and yellow curry dishes to be our favorites (and of course the pad Thai, but it is pretty difficult to fail at this dish). Another stand out and surprisingly delicious side dish is the brown rice with sultanas, a real refreshing change from the standard white rice side dish.
In general the food is outstanding which is why we keep coming back there. The service is good and the atmosphere is ok, just a bit dated. But don't let that stop you, experience it for yourselves just once and you'll be addicted!
