After the roaring success of the Gertrude Street original, it was only a matter of time before Melburnians were treated to another helping of the rustic Italian fare that made the first restaurant such a hit.
The woodfired oven is the centre of attention at Ladro, with some of the most gorgeous artisan pizzas that are among the best you'll find in Australia. Roasted meat dishes also get the woodfired treatment, and it's hard to resist starting off with such tasty entrees as arancini that are as small as they are divinely crisp. The modest wine list is impressive for its size and includes quite a few quality Italian drops. Ladro is almost like the anti-pizzeria, featuring spot-on service, stylish surrounds, and a fashionable Prahran clientele, who enjoy the casual (but not too casual) vibe that their Fitzroy neighbours have already become accustomed to.

Best Pizza in Melbourne
Went to Ladro in Prahran with a group of friends and had a great night. Being Italian I can be picky with pizza and I have to say this was the best Margherita I've eaten in Melbourne. Top notch buffalo mozzarella and sparse but tasty. Badabing + Prawn pizzas also enjoyed. Eggplant patties great value at $3. Spinach + mint with peas salad really fresh and panna cotta can be so dull but this was amazing. Italian bomboloni a must eat. Drank house red which we all thought was a bargain at around $37. Finished with limoncello and averna which you don't see everywhere. Atmosphere was buzzy and room full. Service was very unobtrusive and professional. Have been back on a busier Saturday night since and it was packed but the bar was easier to hear. Drank G&T's and tap beer whilst waiting for a table. enjoyed ourselves so much we ditched the table and ate in the bar. More please!
