When Sydney lost the services of Flinders Inn head chef Morgan McGlone, it was a blow to the city's food cred. Luckily, stepping into the shoes of the old Flinders Inn is this exciting new trattoria.
Where McGlone found inspiration in classic French cuisine, the new man behind the pans on Flinders Street, Fabio Alacqua, explores his Sicilian roots. Expect to see the antipasti and that epitomise Italian cuisine the world over in ample supply on the menu at La Vucciria.
Of course, no self-respecting Sicilian would be seen dead without an impressive list of desserts that outstrip his fellow countrymen's efforts. Alacqua has obliged here also, boasting a diabetes-inducing almond semifreddo topped with dark chocolate sauce and an even sweeter strawberry tiramisu.
