When it comes to finding good eateries in the CBD, it pays to follow the crowd. If you're in the vicinity of St George's Terrace, it's likely they'll lead you to La Via. Suits and tourists alike flock to Joe Dicarlo's family-run cafe for quality, good value gourmet breakfasts, snacks and lunches, as well as the wireless internet. The coffee's a big drawcard too, not just because it's freshly roasted in Perth, but also because it's made by accomplished barista Paul Dicarlo. Joe insists on using only fresh ingredients and good quality extra virgin oil - and the attention to detail shows in the delicious homemade quiche, risotto, casserole, soup, pasta, focaccia, panini, calzone and extras such as grilled vegetables and salads. Even with side orders, your lunch will come in at less than $13 and the cooked breakfast special, including toast and tea or coffee, is a steal at just $9.80.
